Ultra high specification cam cover gasket to suit the TVR Speed 6 engine. Racing Green TVR has had these high specification VITON gaskets made to allow the TVR Speed 6 cam cover to be mounted via gasket rather than utilising the standard sealant approach. The gasket is 3mm thick and allows the cam cover to be raised away from the timing chain and sprockets. Sometimes if the upper chain is not tightened enough the chains will leave witness marks on the inside of the cam cover but excessive tightening of the chains can lead to premature failure of the 1/2 time bearings. This cam cover gasket allows the cam cover to be raised by 2-3 mm which significantly reduces the likelihood of the chains touching the inside of the cam cover and allows the upper chain to be run very slightly looser without running the risk of the chain touching the cam cover and hence taking load off the 1/2 time bearings. The recommended easiest way to fit these gasket is to use spray contact adhesive on both gasket and cam cover and bond the gasket in place to the cam cover. We also recommend using spring washers on the locating bolts to ensure they do not loosen. This gasket material is ultra specification Dupont Viton A which is the most specified fluoroelastomer, well known for its excellent (400°F/200°C) heat resistance. Viton offers excellent resistance to aggressive fuels and engine oils and has worldwide ISO 9000 and ISO/TS 16949 registration. This gasket is made specifically for very high performance TVR Speed 6 engines where the under bonnet temperatures are expected to be very high and the capabilites of VITON ensure the most reliable of seals.
