Kit for additional oil feed to rear of exhaust finger follower shaft. This is a kit to allow the fitment of an additional oil feed to the rear of the TVR Speed 6 cylinder head to supply oil to the exhaust finger follower shaft. The oil feed to the camshafts and finger followers on the TVR Speed 6 engine is via 2 drillings rising vertically from the oil gallery either side of the oil filter. These drillings feed oil to the inlet finger follower shaft and this distributes it to all the finger followers on the inlet side and to the inlet cam bearings. Excess oil under pressure travels to the front of the inlet finger follower shaft and across a drilling under the front of the 2 camshafts and supplies the front of the exhaust finger follower shaft. The oil is then distributed down the exhaust finger follower shaft to the exhaust finger followers and exhaust cam bearings. The rear exhaust finger followers are at the end of a very long oil supply line (~1.5 metres) and hence at times of low oil pressure can be starved. This kit overcomes this potential problem but does require relatively straight forward machining to the back of the cyliner head and as such is really only able to be incorporated into a full rebuild of the TVR Speed 6 engine. This kit feeds oil from the oil pressure sender block direct to the rear of the exhaust finger follower shaft at oil gallery pressures. This effectively equalises the oil pressure around the finger follower shaft "ring main" and ensures adequate supply is maintained to all finger followers and cam bearings providing the basic engine oil pressures are good. In practise this oil feed pipe runs hot at idle indicating good oil flow to the back of the head supporting the valve gear, cam bearings and finger followers. Whilst at higher rpms and consequent higher oil pressures the requirement for an additional oil feed is not so great the equalising of the oil pressure for all cam bearings and finger followers ensures they receive adequate lubrication at all times. At low rpm this additional feed makes a significant difference and after a long hot drive with high oil temperatures it is naive to think that this is not beneficial when the engine is idling.
